Overloading Overloading

In less developed countries motor vehicles are made to work hard and earn their keep - as our cover photo shows!

We bring you another historical road this week north of Knysna in the Southern Cape as well as a quick jaunt up to the Northern Cape for a very interesting 4x4 drive through the Namaqua National Park and then we finish up in the lowveld near Barberton's historical gold fields.

1. Old Cape Road - Take your golf clubs with as the road traverses the Simola Golf Estate. A beautiful gravel road drive with lofty views of Knysna, the lagoon and the heads.

2. Messelpad Pass - A history rich gravel road in the Namaqua National Park.

3. Saddleback Pass - A steep, tarred pass close to Barberton, which takes you all the way to teh Swaziland border on the R40.

With the first major cold front of the winter sweeping across the Western Cape, the Mountain Passes team are heading off into the snowbelt this weekend to capture footage of passes in the snow. We'll let you know if had any luck. On schedule for filming is the Dasklip Pass, Middelburg Pass and Versveld Pass.
