This week we introduce you to a truly amazing mountain pass. Unfortunately it's only open to 4WD vehicles, but for those without, we can take you on a cyber drive with us into the heartland of the Gamkaberg Nature Reserve in the Little Karoo as we tackle the 16,2 km pass that traverses the mountain.

In our MPSA tours section, we bring you news of a revised tariff structure which is far simpler and should make the Western Cape subscribers more than happy to join us for a fabulously entertaining day driving the Cape's finest passes.

Most people have not even heard of one of Cape Nature's best kept secrets - The Gamkaberg Nature Reserve. It lies to the south of Calitzdorp and Oudtshoorn in the Little Karoo and offers a range of nature activities to calm the soul and restore equilibrium. It was originally created to conserve the almost extinct Cape Mountain Zebra, whose numbers had dwindled to a very precarious five!

The reserve offers hiking trails, fabulous eco-lodges in the form of decked tented camps with plunge pools in pristine surroundings where the night sounds will soothe you to sleep in the quiet Karoo nights. There is a newly constructed labyrinth to test the IQ and a 10,000 hectare reserve filled with flora and fauna to completely captivate you.

Have a look at our MPSA tours on our online shop and book yourself a wonderful self-drive day trip under the stewardship of the editor, who will talk you through some of the Western Cape's finest passes. Bookings are done online at the click of the mouse. Just follow the link below:

A good map is a thing of beauty that can transport you into the mists of time or get your sense of adventure churning. It is a place to make discoveries about deserts and seas, mountains and lakes; of roads leading into places you have not been before; a place to pore over holiday destinations or weekend camping trips. A map is your window to the world.
